CMI "Time Expired" Management Qualification Programmes

INTRODUCTION

Management qualification programmes have been designed for personnel who have successfully completed service career courses that have been accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). However, at the time of their course some personnel did not enrol to complete the full CMI qualification within the registration time period i.e. they are now "time expired". The "Time Expired" qualification programmes explained in this document enable these personnel to engage with a process to achieve nationally recognised management qualifications. These qualifications are on the National Qualifications Framework and are listed at Annex A.

PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT

Programme management details are as follows:
  • Access to Programmes

MDN offer the "Time Expired" route to management qualifications as part of their comprehensive training and development portfolio. Referrals are accepted via Army Education Centres, the Chartered Management Institute - Qualifications Department, and directly from personnel

  • Programme Requirements

Candidates are advised about the requirements of each programme and register on a voluntary basis. Programme registration is with the candidate's selected provider (see paragraph 2). Registrations are co-ordinated by RKW - MDQ on behalf of MDN. There is a time limit of six months for the candidate to complete the programme starting from the date of registration. Only in an exceptional case will this be extended e.g. an urgent operational tour of duty. In such a case it is the responsibility of the candidate to notify their selected provider.

  • Candidate Registration and Fees

The overall fees quoted include both Provider Fees and Candidate Registration Fees for the Chartered Management Institute.

These fees are dependent on courses completed, experience and rank related job role.

The provider will be only too willing to discuss these with you upon request.

CMI PROGRAMMES IN MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP

    The various levels available are:-

    Level 2 - Team Leading - JNCO
    Level 3 - SNCO - (Poss Level 5)
    Level 5 - WO's (Poss Level 7)

NOTE The Level 7 Diploma programme can be enhanced by completing additional units to achieve a Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Management & Leadership. This would need to be discussed with your provider.

  • Funding

Candidates may wish use their Standards Learning Credits (SLC), Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) or Resettlement Grant towards payment of registration and fees. Advice should be sought from Educations Centres on candidate entitlement to these funding options. At Annex A all qualifications at Level 3 and above have ELC approval. MDN is able to administer all of these funding options.

  • Candidate Support and Assessment

Candidates are supported and assessed by staff of their selected provider. A candidate is supported as an individual but may cover development activities in a group if they wish. Each company within MDN is mutually supporting in all aspects of the qualification programme. A candidate is required to pass all assignments including the Chartered Management Institute external assessment appropriate to their qualification.

    ADVICE and GUIDANCE

The organisations that form the Management Development Network are pleased to give impartial advice and guidance without commitment about management qualifications. The organisation is approved to conduct other qualifications with CMI and is able to advise individuals to meet specific needs.
